Datuk Danial Mah bin Abdullah
Datuk Danial Mah is a seasoned financial leader with over three decades of experience in Malaysia’s financial and regulatory sectors.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Malaya and a Master of Business Administration (MBA, with Distinction) from Manchester Business School, England. He is also a Chartered Accountant (CA 4670) registered with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
Datuk Danial began his career at Bank Negara Malaysia (1988–1997), where he oversaw financial institutions’ governance, internal controls, and financial soundness.
He then served more than 20 years with the Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) — Malaysia’s offshore financial regulator — including as Director-General (2017–2021). In this role, he was instrumental in ensuring Labuan International Business and Financial Centre (Labuan IBFC) became a globally recognized, well-regulated, and reputable international financial hub.
During his tenure, he:
- Chaired the Financial Stability Committee with Bank Negara Malaysia and the Securities Commission.
- Strengthened international regulatory cooperation and compliance with OECD tax standards.
- Successfully attracted major global financial players such as China Construction Bank and Taichung Bank to establish operations in Labuan.
- Promoted Islamic financial market development through his role as Vice-Chairman of the International Islamic Financial Market (IIFM).
He has also held several board and leadership positions including:

Datuk Danial has been conferred several state and federal honours in recognition of his contributions to the nation, including the Darjah Mulia Pangkuan Negeri (DMPN), Panglima Mahkota Wilayah (PMW), and Johan Mangku Negara (JMN).
